Evolution with Gold

Evolution with Gold

Following on from the intricately detailed ‘ Evolution #1 ‘, comes ‘ Evolution with Gold ‘  , which has a simpler and more patterned look. The shapes are a kind of building blocks , building from seacreature scales up to bird feathers, vastly simplifying this evolutionary process.

This piece was exhibited at Pixel Ink Gallery during my show ‘ 4 Billion Years Later ‘ and is still available for sale to a good home.

Iguana Cherries 2011

Iguana Cherries !

This was the last one i created for my Four Billion show.  I felt reptiles had to be represented , being an evolutionary branch of spectacularly odd looking beasts ! And great to draw.

Get Off My Lawn 2011

Get Off My Lawn !

One of the last paintings for my current show, it goes nicely with ‘ Escape From Earth ‘. I think of it as Father Nature shaking off a few of its more destructive inhabitants….  This one was very messy but fun to create, splashed paint all up the walls and into my eyeballs .

Petrol Swans 2011

Petrol Swans 2011

This one is one of my favourites – bit of a different style to the rest . Tried to mingle the highlighter colours to create that petrol sheen, then grunge it up a little with my favourite spraypaint can.

On show at Pixel Ink Gallery in Wellington NZ for two more weeks !

Thanks* for the inspiration BP.

Escape From Earth

Escape From Earth

Escape From Earth

I just finished Escape from Earth, hot air balloons and toxic clouds. The world below looks poisoned ; clever businessmen in suits escape. I’m going to work on a few more like this, with more dynamic compositions and wild winds blowing the balloons on dangerous angles.

This one was inspired by a) using my hair dryer whilst half asleep

and b) Exogenesis Symphony , an epic 3 part symphony by Muse .

Have a listen !  http://muse.mu/media-player/singles/51/exogenesis-symphony/

Guilty Chandelier … hmm

Nov 23

guilty chandelier

guilty chandelier

This one’s from a couple of months back; its been hidden in the corner out of sight as i thought i never wanted to see it again.  Not my best painting work.  But after rethinking, i do really like the idea and the compositional symmetry between the decadent powersucking chandelier and the wilting cyclamen plant. ( do i need to explain the metaphor here … )  I think its worth posting . And worth repainting with a bit more skill ! That blobby background kills me
