The Moody Kotuku Heron
This has become one of my favourites from the year. Kotuku / Great White Herons nest in only one place in New Zealand – the lower West Coast of the South Island. I love that area. So misty and moody, with weird old trees and relatively empty roads. I actually prefer the faceless version, something quite ghostly about it. I’ll update with the finished version when i’ve scanned it. The face turned out to be quite delicate and pencilled.
This piece is due to be shown at Soul Gallery in Hamilton, from the 5th of February.
